Oakwood Business Park – Harrogate
Client Brief
The owners of the Oakwood Business Park had an objective; the ability offer their tenants a renewable and reliable energy source. They were looking for a 150kwph system to support various on-site business’s as well as the main family home.
Information Reviewal, Load Testing and Site Investigation
Our Partners at FIRST BASE Ground Screws in-house engineers calculated all elements from the horizontal and vertical bearing forces on the Ground Screw foundations, up to the most productive orientation of the structure. We then moved forward to Digital, compression, horizontal and uplift load testing across the site, which helped us to precisely specify the correct Ground Screw diameter and length to best suit the local soil type.
Planning and Installation
Designed to accommodate a double portrait layout, the FIRST BASE 2V-3H Field Setup was the perfect solution to accommodate both the service requirement and compatibility with the clients chosen solar panel specification. Site conditions were reasonable for the time of year, 166 Ground Screw locations were swiftly marked out by GPS on site ready for the ground screws to be installed. The complete installation was a 3 way effort as GS4U Ground Screws join us to erect this vast solar structure and attaching the double-portrait PV panels.
The Results
Our client was extremely satisfied with the result which our combined teams, FIRST BASE Ground Screws UK, D Page Contractors and GS4U installed in less than 3 days on site. He has since had many positive comments on the structure from neighbours and friends including ‘the most aesthetically pleasing array they have ever seen!’
